Not setting clear SEO goals for your SEO efforts to pay off, you must understand what you want to achieve. Is it better quality traffic, more organic leads, or more sales you’re trying to get?

1. Ignoring search intent:

You have to figure out what a user wants to get when searching that query on Google. Is the searcher looking to buy something? Or are they trying to learn something

2. Overlooking mobile traffic:

More than 50% of all traffic comes from mobile devices. If your website is not mobile-friendly or mobile search is not part of your SEO strategy, you might be leaving money on the table.

3. Holding onto old school practices:

Strategies that were effective ten years ago are no longer viable. So, if you want to stay at the top of Google SERP, you must stay updated and employ the latest SEO tactics.

4. Buying backlinks:

Backlinks are one of the most significant ranking factors. However, if you buy links to boost your website rankings, you might end up with a penalty from Google.

5. Forgetting about content formats:

SEO for text-based content might be challenging. Other content formats can be used to rank on Google and drive organic traffic to your website.

6. Ignoring branded SEO & EAT:

Today, Google favors sites that are genuine, trusted, and popular. E-A-T (expertise, authority, and trust) is a Google concept. Google calculates a website’s EAT by combining multiple data points and algorithms.

7. Publishing Non-Original Content:

Copying and plagiarizing content is considered spam and is strongly discouraged. Content that is duplicated or thin simply does not work.
